A product of the 19th Century, the Violet Institute's central building is a hulking three-story mansion, completely original aside from the more recent additions of a basement and a few necessary modern amenities. The building is well-maintained, the walls whitewashed and ivy-free. Flower boxes line the windows.

The school long ago outgrew the mansion which serves as its primary building, so a number of structures have been added to the property to serve a variety of functions. Along with the dining hall and a collection of sheds scattered throughout the grounds, there are several portables and additional classrooms.

Dormitories make up the majority of the institute's buildings. There are ten in total, nine for the houses and one for the staff, and each one is a different shape and size, designed to best suit its intended occupants. Daytime visitors are allowed in individual dormitory rooms so long as the door remains open.

Located on the fringes of Villa, Ellison Park is as small as the town, barely a quarter of an acre. It offers a short jogging path, a few patches of grass, several trees, and a couple of benches. Though the scenery is nice, it offers little privacy for a romantic picnic and little space for a quick game of football.

Villa only has an elementary school; students who are middle school and high school age go to the larger town of Mill Creek two dozen miles south to attend Gateway Middle School or Jackson High School. Outside of school hours, the large playground is a popular hangout for both families and bored teenagers.

There are a few small apartment buildings clustered a few blocks off of main street, but most of the population of Villa lives in houses. Some are large and some are small. Some are red, some are blue, and some are green. Some have two bedrooms and some have five. They come in all shapes and sizes.
