Serinity is often misunderstood when it comes to her personality. The fact that she usually walks around with a contemplative scowl leads others to assume she’s always angry about something. While that is true most of the time, typically, the blonde just has a lot on her mind. Socially awkward, Rini finds it hard to make and keep good friends. She needs someone who is willing to give her time to warm up to them. Once she’s allowed someone to truly be a part of her life, those people find that they’ve gained an extremely loyal friend who will always have their back. Toward those people Serinity goes out of her way to please them and keep them happy.
When she’s having a good day Rini is carefree, playful, and very go-with-the-flow. This is the side of Rini other people should get to know first. Around those she doesn’t know or know well she is polite and reserved often choosing to listen rather than give her input into the conversation. Around friends, she is a little more outgoing and, without meaning to be, annoying. Once settled into a relationship the Leo side of Rini emerges. With a hint of polite bossiness, Rini wants things done correctly preferring them to be done right the first time around. Serinity is also the kind of person that allows others to lead and take charge following their orders provided it doesn’t go against her morals and will. When there is an absence of a leader Rini steps up. She is content following, but sometimes feels the need to be the one giving orders.
Growing up with her overbearing grandmother has caused Rini to develop a bit of a rebellious streak when it comes to authority figures. Usually she is very well-mannered toward those who have “authority,” but if they step over her invisible line she can turn into a spiteful person with a passive-aggressive response. On the subject of aggressiveness, Rini tries not to be an angry person but that rarely pans out well. She is the type to bottle up emotions while results in a burst of rage later. This can also produce drastic mood swings. That being said Rini is also a very romantic person wishing to be whisked off her feet. It would do well for others to note that Serinity also acts differently around different people often being influenced by different personalities.

Birth. Everyone goes through it, humans and daemons alike. The process might be different, but it will always be considered the beginning.
Serinity’s story starts with her dad’s. Hewett Dawson, born to Lillian Dawson, was your run of the mill daemoner. However, neither he nor his mother realized what he was. Hewett always felt the presence of his daemon, who later became known as Ozzy, and enjoyed the company of his twin. Lillian, however, did not. Hewett’s attachment to his “imaginary” friend was fine at a younger age, but as the boy grew and Hewett refused to grow out of the stage, Lillian became worried. Hewett spent all of his time with Ozzy and made little to no friends preferring to keep to himself. She tried talking to Hewett telling him that his friend was not real and that he should find some real friends at school. The counselors talked to him and even his teachers. After several years of their whisperings and brainwashing, Ozzy began to fade from the boy’s memory. The connection was severd and Ozzy slipped back into the Ghost stage of existence.
Hewett went through a large part of his life feeling as if a piece of him were missing. As he grew older he chalked it up to not having someone to love. In high school he found that love of his life. Lucy Hartsfield. It wasn’t necessarily love at first site, but the two dated all throughout high school and well into college. Life with Lucy was wonderful beyond measure, but still Hewett felt as if there was just something missing and he could never seem to put his finger on it. One completely random day Hewett was getting ready for another day at college when the unthinkable happened. Lucy gave a shriek when a dog padded into the kitchen. They didn’t own a dog! Hewett Dawson, I have been waiting years for you to remember me! Said the massive dog to his other half who immediately dropped his cup of coffee.
Staring into the eyes of an Anatolian Shepherd, something suddenly clicked for Hewett. It was as if that void was finally filled. Everything made sense. Dropping to his knees Hewett embraced the dog clinging to Ozzy. He had heard about daemoners, but he never, in a million, billion years, would have thought he was one. Lucy received the news relatively well. There was a rough patch between them for a while, but they soon fixed up their relationship. Lucy had always wanted a dog, much to Ozzy’s irritation. At least there were treats. Fearing society, Hewett kept his daemon secret from the rest of the world except for Lucy. No one could know. Not even his mother Lillian. Hewett soon learned of his ability to create and manipulate fire. He rarely used the power but fiddled with it now and then for fun. He never fully realized how powerful or dangerous it could be.
For a couple of years the three lived in peace without much incident or trouble. Lucy and Hewett married and had a daughter shortly after. Her name, of course, was Serinity. The family lived on for five mostly uneventful years. During those five years Hewett watched Serinity with interest and curiosity. If he was a daemoner, was she? As it turned out, she was, but Hewett would never really know. Shortly after Serinity turned five, Hewett was fiddling with his fire to keep the ever ADD Serinity entertained. Something went wrong this time around. Hewett was under a lot of stress with the trivial things of life. When he created the spark to ignite the flame, his power grew out of control. A piece of furniture caught fire first followed by the curtains and soon the entire house.
Hewett panicked and told Ozzy to get Rini out of the house while he went upstairs to save Lucy who was taking a nap. When Ozzy reached outside, he turned around with the young Rini clinging to his legs. Together the daemon and child watched as the house collapsed upon itself burying Lucy and Hewett inside. Serinity’s wails echoed that of the approaching firetrucks that came to the rescue a moment too late. A fireman rushed over Serinity to check her over. Ozzy was nowhere to be found.
After that, Rini was put into the care of her widowed grandmother Lillian. Grief stricken over the loss of her son and daughter-in-law coupled with the passing of her husband a few years back, Lillian aggressively went out of her way to protect Serinity. When the girl began to display the same signs that her son once had, Lillian grew scared and began telling Rini that her “imaginary” friend was not real either. She wanted Serinity to grow up as normal as possible with real friends and having a good life. It was the least she deserved. Over time, Serinity soon began to forget her daemon as well who, after her father, had been named Hewie.
For some years later, Lillian got her wish for Rini. The young girl led a normal life. However, Lillian was far too overbearing toward Serinity which the girl did not appreciate in the least. Rini actively sought out ways to undermine and rebel against her grandmother. One of those rebellions came in the form of two tattoos, one on each wrist. Lillian had been furious when she found out, but what could she do? It was like a game for Rini. Whatever Lillian did to take a step forward, Rini made sure to make her take two steps back. Don’t get her wrong, though. She does love her grandmother, but she also loves her space. The death of her parents have always affected her and often times it had her spiraling down into a deep depression. Yet there was an empty void in Rini that she wished to fill. It was something that kept her going.
One day, nearing the end of her high school career, Hewie’s second manifestation hit. The dog, exuberated by their reunion, rushed at the girl barking madly. He jumped up to lick at her face causing Serinity to panic and fall to the ground. She thought she was being attacked! But that wasn’t the case at all. Hewie was hurt by Rini’s lack of understanding. Stepping away, the dog turned his ears back and whined low and pitifully. How could she not recognize him? He had always been by her side.
The realization hit Serinity hard. She forgot how to breath and choked. “Hewie…” she whispered. As her dad had done, Serinity embraced her other half and hugged him tight. She had friends while growing up, but no one could compare to the connection she felt with Hewie. He was her guardian, her twin, her world. That emptiness in her life was suddenly gone only to be replaced with someone who could share her pain, her happiness. The depression she felt was lessened. Once again she could enjoy life even with the memory of her traumatic pass looming over her.
After graduating, a former graduate of Violet Institute stumbled upon Serinity and Hewie quite by mistake. The two had been in the park and fooling around. The daemoner seemed to recognize the deep connection the two shared. Until then neither Hewie nor Serinity had come across another pair before. It came as a shock to them that there were others in the world who were just like them. The news thrilled Rini. The school sounded like fun! It would make for a good college. Well, it would had the school offer college courses. Serinity was bummed to learn that Violet didn’t offer college courses, but was intrigued when the graduate asked what her power was. Her power? What was he talking about?
The guy explained it and even demonstrated his ability to heal. It amazed both dog and girl who had no idea what they were capable of. So what was their power? Was it healing like the graduate’s? Or water, fire, earth?! Serinity, we are weather manipulators. Hewie suddenly said with an insightful tone. Think about it. Every time you get upset, the weather reflects your mood. It has happened on more than one occasion, too many times to be a coincidence. That has to be it! Try to make it rain! And so Serinity made it rain with much effort even with Hewie’s help. As it turned out the two were hardly skilled at all in their ability. Much to their liking, however, Violent Institute could train them into honing their abilities.
And that was that. The two were soon headed out for Violet Institute to be a student in training. In time they would be able to make it rain on command, cause thunder and lightning, or even create a tornado! Her power was both amazing and scary at the same time. So, for the past year, Serinity and Hewie have trained at Violet Institute to learn control over their weather manipulation. College could wait. This was cooler.

The Violet Institute is certainly cool (or so we like to think). Welcome to MMW, Silver! We're happy to have you, Rini, and Hewie aboard the ship (i.e. site).
